Trail Route Map

Directions – To Trail 

From Highway 101

  • Take the Sir Francis Drake Exit
  • Stay on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard until you reach the Fairfax town limits.
  • Take a LEFT immediately after the Valero gas station onto Pacheco Avenue at the wooden “Fairfax” sign
  • At the stop sign take a RIGHT onto Broadway Avenue.
  • At the next stop sign take a LEFT onto Bolinas Road.
  • Head up Bolinas Road approximately 1.5 miles (you’ll pass the Deer Park Villa restaurant).
  • Turn LEFT onto Sky Oaks Road at the “Lake Lagunitas” sign
  • Continue approximately 1/4 mile on Sky Oaks Road. Sky Oaks Watershed Headquarters is on the left at the crest of the hill.
  • Just past the entrance kiosk (generally unmanned) there is a small rock parking lot. Park here. Parking is $8.00

TRAIL ROUTE – 6 miles

From the Parking Lot

  • Head down the straight dirt path just behind the pay machines
  • At the fork take a left on the trail. You will be heading over a little wooden bridge in about 30 feet.
  • Continue along the path passing the golf course on your right and heading through a “construction area” that looks like the set of Thomas the Train
  • At the end of the trail enter through a little wooden opening and head left up the dirt road.
  • Take a right on the dirt path between the parked cars. Go up the path to the lake.
  • Cross the little bridge and head up to the levy.
  • Go right on the levy
  • At the end of the levy take a slight left up the stairs to go around the lake.
  • In quite some distance you’ll reach a parking lot with a drinking fountain and some porta potties
  • Just past the parking lot enter a dirt trail on your left that heads toward the lake (there are a few trails here. Take the closest one that skirts the lake)
  • Follow the trail around the lake until it reaches the levy again.
  • Head up a steep trail and then down the trail to the dirt parking area
  • Take a left on the trail and then enter the trail past wooden gate to head back to Thomas the Train area with golf course on the left.
  • Pass over wooden bridge and take a right on the trail back to the parking lot.
